Special Public Forum - Land Redistribution and Reform: Securing Land and Food for Present and Future Generations

For the purpose of deepening the cross cultural understanding of the critical issue of land reform and long term food security, the BCFSN is preparing for a Special Public Forum and Wine and Cheese Reception at it's 13th Annual Gathering in 100 Mile House, B.C. The forum will take place on Friday July 8, 2011 from 7:00 – 10:00 pm and will bring together researchers, activists and political advocates who are renowned for their knowledge and expertise in various aspects of land and food redistribution and reform. The forum will provide the time and space for informative and interactive discussions that raise awareness of the need to set aside adequate tracts of land for growing, hunting, fishing and harvesting in the locale.

In addition to offering an in depth look at a sometimes highly contentious issue through various lens', the event will also provide participants with an opportunity to sample local wine, cheese and snacks. The cost of the event is $25.00 per ticket.

We are looking forward to gaining insight and learning from the experience of the speakers in their efforts of securing Agricultural Land Reserves, addressing Aboriginal title and rights, and conserving biodiversity in the forests, fields and waterways of this beautiful province. We believe the forum will be relevant to anyone who eats and/or is concerned about the future of food including local ranchers, farmers, Indigenous hunters and gatherers, government agents, corporations, and community organizations.
